Wavescape

Wavescape.co.za relaunch was a really challenging project for all involved. We kept changing the brief, worked for the first time with a CMS and open source (Joomla), struggled to find our business drivers, and were really demanding clients on a tight budget a lot of the time.

Karabo

As I sit here on the eve of the Karabo launch, eyes stinging from lack of sleep, slight jitters from a caffeine overdose and an ever so subtle feeling of panic in the pit of my stomach, I reflect over the last six months with curiosity.

This project was, and is, so much bigger than I ever imagined. It took longer, cost more and was more difficult than I could have expected. It's a personal first for me in terms of its magnitude and style; to quote an overused cliché, a "learning curve" in every sense of the word. I have no doubt it will continue to be, and with the future of Karabo slightly tenuous and unpredictable, I sit firmly in the knowledge that almost anything is possible.

Gratitude is an odd concept as it is so difficult to portray in words, somewhat frustrating as a mere "thank you" doesn't quite cut it. I know that you have both worked beyond the boundaries of what can be considered "normal" hours and energy input; that you have sacrificed personal time that could have been better served with friends and family; that this has probably cost you more than you are willing to say.

The Society has missed countless deadlines and dragged their feet on major decisions that has seen this project run almost 5 months overdue. We have been through some hair raising moments, stress levels peaking, lost sleep and actual tears shed over this project. And all the while, the stalwarts of calm, you have been utterly charming, pleasant, amenable, flexible, tolerant, patient and understanding.

It has been so cool to work with you. I know this relationship is not ending today, but it is essentially the finale to what has been a colourful venture. I felt the need to express what I am genuinely experiencing as the utmost gratitude to you.
